Human Readiness

A Statement of Principlesfor the Age of AI

Build the technology.

Prepare the people.

Keep humans accountable.

The position

The AI conversation cannot only concern what machines can do.

It must also address the condition, judgment, readiness, authority, and accountability of the humans using them.

  1. 01

    AI is a tool.

Humans remain accountable for what humans build, deploy, approve and act upon.

  2. 02

    Intent alone is insufficient.

    Outcomes matter.

  3. 03

Access on its own creates nothing.

Access to powerful technology does not automatically create wisdom.

  4. 04

Authority is earned. It’s not a feature.

Human judgment, discernment and readiness become increasingly important as machines become more capable.

Clear enough to think.

Grounded enough to judge.

Ready enough to act.

The understanding beneath the statement

My view of artificial intelligence didn’t begin with technology. It began with an understanding of human beings.

Years ago, I came across an inside-out understanding of life that fundamentally changed the way I saw my own experience. I began to understand that our experience of life is generated from within rather than simply imposed upon us by circumstances.

That understanding changed how I saw pressure, fear, identity, leadership and human potential.

Then AI arrived. And I couldn’t stop seeing the same thing.

We were having an enormous conversation about the capability of the technology while giving far less attention to the condition of the human being using it.

That is where Human Readiness enters the conversation.

Mind gives life. Thought creates the experience. Consciousness allows you to feel and become aware of it.

Mind is the universal intelligence behind all life. Thought is the creative power that shapes your experience of it. Consciousness is the awareness that brings it all to life. When you understand this, life stops happening at you and starts moving through you — and in the age of AI, that understanding is the difference between being used by the technology and using it well.
